Acclaimed Actress Diane Ladd, Famed For Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Dies at Age 89.

This Academy Award-nominated performer Diane Ladd, a Hollywood veteran has died aged 89.

The actor, whose roles included Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, passed away at home in Ojai, California. Her passing was announced through a message from her offspring, Oscar-winning actor Laura Dern.

Her daughter, who performed alongside her mother in several movies such as Wild at Heart, called her “my amazing hero plus my precious gift of a mother”, noting that she was present during her final moments.

“She was an exceptional mother, daughter, grandmother, performer, creative and compassionate soul that only dreams could have seemingly created,” she expressed. “We were lucky to have her. She is flying with her angels now.”

Beginnings and Rise to Fame

The start of her career saw supporting roles on television series such as Perry Mason and that decade featured her performing alongside Jack Nicholson in the film Chinatown.

During that year, the year 1974, she shared the screen with actress Ellen Burstyn in Martin Scorsese’s praised comedy drama Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, a classic. The performance landed Ladd an Academy Award nomination in the supporting actress category.

Later Decades

In the 1980s, she starred in the thriller the movie Black Widow as well as funny follow-up Christmas Vacation and also took part in the show Alice, a sitcom derived from the film Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.
