Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a disaster situation - which is triggered by mass casualty, extensive property destruction, and halt to economic activities and everyday existence for residents of impacted regions.
The weather system, called in the region Tino, devastated the populous island of Cebu, submerging entire towns and washing automobiles along avenues.
Tens of thousands of people had to be relocated, with many taking refuge in designated safe zones.
