Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at Age 60.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles recently having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, according to news outlets.
"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones said in a announcement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Notable TV Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.
Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
