People have gathered around the country to commemorate the second anniversary since the Hamas-initiated assault on 7 October 2023, as negotiations advanced in Egypt over a resolution to the war in Gaza.

The attack led to in excess of 1,200 people dead and 251 others abducted away to Gaza as captives. It was the single most lethal day for Jews since the Second World War.

Israel answered by initiating a military offensive in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Its numbers are considered reliable by the United Nations and other world agencies.

"The violent enemies have hit us hard, but they have not defeated us," the leader stated on Tuesday.

He also promised to "accomplish all the aims of the war: the return of all the kidnapped, the removal of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will not create a threat to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The government authorities postponed official memorials until mid-October - after the end of the religious holiday season - but gatherings still were held around the country on that day.

A remembrance service for the relatives of Israelis killed in the Hamas incident was conducted in Tel Aviv. Put together by the families themselves, it was broadcast on Israeli TV networks.

Hours earlier, a silent tribute was held across the country.

Ceasefire Discussions in Egypt

Simultaneously, both sides' representatives convened in the North African coastal city of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of mediated discussions to examine the terms of the plan.

A prominent representative involved in the talks revealed that an evening round of negotiations started at 19:00 Cairo time.

The source stated the day's discussions concluded without significant progress, due to conflicting views over the proposed Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas seeks to ensure Israel does not resume fighting after the opening period of the agreement.

He commented that the talks are "challenging and have yet to produce any real breakthrough," but noted that mediators are working hard to reduce the disparities between the both parties.

Essential Issues in Negotiations

  • An enduring halt to fighting
  • The trade of the hostages still held by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Plans for humanitarian aid deliveries
  • Post-war management of the region

Citizen Feeling

In Tel Aviv's public square that day, young a woman - whose brother endured the assault on the gathering, where 378 people were lost their lives and many more were captured by Hamas militants - told: "No place seems like home anymore and until all the hostages come back not a single person will have peace of mind."

"After we see everybody home again, we can feel relief once more. Then we can start to heal," she continued.

Near the leader's residence in Jerusalem, people congregated to express their backing for the families of the captives. Israel reports nearly fifty remain in captivity in Gaza, 20 of whom are believed to be living.

Protester a participant stated: "It's necessary do whatever arrangement required for the hostages to be released. But we sincerely need assurances that we will be safe."

Research now frequently demonstrate that approximately the majority of the population want the hostilities to finish in exchange for the liberation of the abducted.

Gaza Situation

At the area of the music event, grieving people gathered to honor the dead.

From the site, the sound of aerial bombardments and shelling could be noticed just a short distance away in Gaza, where observers indicated the heavy Israeli shelling carried on.

In the urban center, attacks were documented in the morning of that day in the western neighborhood, area and locality districts and in the east side neighbourhood of that sector, as well the camp to the northwestern area.

"When the dusk falls, the fear appears with it," displaced urban resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose young son was killed by an Israeli aerial attack previously, described.

"We are terrified of the air strikes. Throughout the evening we are resting together, holding each other, especially my little child who rests his face on me all night."

"Continuously we look at the reports to see what happened. And I'm afraid that this ceasefire will not be achieved and that the war will resume to us."

Humanitarian Crisis

The medical facility in the urban area reported it had received the bodies of several people by the afternoon, including a trio who lost their lives in an Israeli strike in the south part district.

Another medical facility in the southern urban center of Khan Younis said two more victims had been transported. A person was killed by Israeli forces while seeking aid to the south region, medical staff said.

The territory's health ministry reported a significant number of the {territ
