Ukraine's drones have targeted Russia's Bashneft refinery in the city of Ufa, situated some 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, triggering detonations and a fire, as reported by a source in the Ukrainian SBU.

This represents the 3rd Ukrainian security service long-range attack in Bashkortostan in the recent weeks. These attacks illustrate that there are no safe places in the deep rear of the Russian Federation.

Zelenskyy Appeals to Trump to Broker Truce in the Conflict

Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged President Trump to facilitate a truce in the Ukrainian conflict in a telephone conversation on Saturday.

"Provided that a conflict can be stopped in a single area, then surely other wars can be ended as well, including the Russian war," he said, hailing the US President's "remarkable" Middle East peace initiative and urging the US president to compel the Moscow into talks.

Moscow's Strikes Kill Victims in the Country

Moscow's assaults on Ukraine killed at least five people on Saturday and caused blackouts to sections of Ukraine's south Odesa region, per local sources.

Two people were killed in a church in the town when it was struck, according to regional officials.

In the Russian adjacent territory of Belgorod, a truck driver was killed by a Ukrainian strike, per municipal sources.

Power Repair Efforts in the Capital

Work continued on Saturday to recover electricity in Kyiv, after strikes by Moscow.

Power had been returned to more than 800,000 residents by the weekend and the largest power firm said the main operations to recover electricity was finished though some outages persisted.

Air Defence Efforts and Drone Jamming

The Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems intercepted or jammed 54 of 78 total Russian drones launched against the country overnight, the aerial defense command reported on Saturday.

Russia's military authorities said it eliminated forty-two UAVs from Ukraine over Russian territory.

Cuban Government Rejects Accusations of Deploying Soldiers to Ukraine

The Cuban government on Saturday denied US assertions it has deployed troops to fight in the hostilities, while affirming the government "are without accurate data about Cuban nationals" engaged "on their own" or "in the military forces of the conflicting parties".

The ministry in Havana announced 26 Cubans had been sentenced to jail sentences varying between five up to fourteen years for mercenary involvement since the autumn of 2023 when news circulated of individuals being deployed to the front in the conflict.

The program, a Ukrainian government initiative that urges enemy combatants to lay down arms, reported in May: "Our information indicates the identities and information of over a thousand Cuban nationals who enlisted with the Moscow's troops in recently."

The Cuban foreign ministry said of Cubans who might be engaged: "It is irrefutable that not a single one has the encouragement, dedication, or consent of the government in Havana for their involvement."

Family members of individuals who departed to the Russian Federation in 2023 told international media at the time that their loved ones had been deceptively recruited through ads on digital networks.
