That Gruesome Animated Film Ending That Haunts Viewers

Among every adult-oriented cartoon movies I have personally watched, no other has stuck with me quite like the terror-laced ending of a explicitly bloody and overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, this Spain-based writer-director created a grim, bleak and often savage universe with some tiny , forlorn hints of optimism.

Although Unicorn Wars feels like it stemmed from an impulse to advance animation further, the director explained that it was rather an attempt to communicate a global, multicultural message about “the mutual source of every conflict.”

This theme is communicated through a group of colorful pastel bears , obviously inspired by a famous series of lovable characters.

Unicorn Wars begins feeling a bit like among the playful films from a renowned filmmaker, that discover a wicked pleasure in permitting animated figures swear, shoot each other, or engage sexually.

Then it evolves into more akin to a darker movie by that same creator, with increasingly graphic violence , a palpable connection to the real horror of war.

By the end, it’s a complete Grand Guignol massacre.

The terror that makes the film an ideal spooky-season watch starts well before than that description suggests.
